Le Nuvole Apartment

The Owner

For over 12 years, I have made this village my home.  It is a special place nestled in the center of all Tuscany is and has to offer.  In Le Nuvole, I have tried to create a comfortable nest where you can relax, recharge and use as a base for exploring the food, wines, and beauty of the Val d’Orcia.

Le Nuvole means ‘the clouds’, since when I first set foot in the apartment and looked out from the balcony, I had the feeling of looking down on my adopted village from the clouds.  In renovating the apartment, I strived hard to maintain that feeling of a nest above the activity of daily life, a haven in which to take time watching the sunset with a nice glass of wine or sleeping in late on a sun-filled morning.

I hope you will find all to your liking and that you have a wonderful sojourn in Tuscany.  Please call me should you have any problems.  This is your vacation and I want everything to be perfect.

My Life in Tuscany

I came to the Val d’Orcia in 1998 on a vacation from our cold home in Northern Italy.  It was a horrible winter and the trip had to be postponed for two days due to the snow.  Finally, we pack the car and head for the Appenine Mountains.

Throughout the trip, my wife kept waxing on about the warmth of Tuscany, the food, the people…finally, passing through the umpteenth tunnel, I replied, “Please stop.  To hear you talk, we are headed towards Shangri-La and on the other side of the next tunnel we will be dazzled by blue skies, warm breezes and birds chirping!”

As luck would have it, exiting the next tunnel…we were dazzled by not only the blue skies but also the Michelangelo clouds, the air was so warm we rolled down all the windows and let’s not even get into the birds!

“Ok, I get the message,” I was heard to whisper under my voice and five months of searching later…I moved to Tuscany.  I have lived here ever since:

  • raised my daughters in Italian schools;
  • harvested olives to make my own olive oil;
  • bought and renovated 4 Tuscan villas;
  • helped prepare, serve and eat at countless town feasts;
  • became a Tuscan chef learning to make every manner of beast and fowl;
  • photographed every angle, landscape and personality within 100km; and
  • Became Tuscan, with a proper nickname, ‘l’Amerihano’, something of which I am very proud.

If you want a lovely independent vacation, then Le Nuvole will serve you well.  If, moreover, you want an insight into Tuscany and it’s people, food and culture; then Le Nuvole is a must. Let me share my Tuscany with you.

ps. If you need to find me and I am not at your door, just ask anyone for l’Amerihano…they will know who you mean.
